March 6th
Hanover Squirt Green participated in the 2007 Barre Memorial Tournament over the weekend. Hanover won 2, tied one game in the round robin. Good enough to go into semi-finals at the #2 place behind Binghamton, NY. Beat #3 Barre and went to the finals Sunday afternoon. Excellent team play and strong goal tending. Results were as follows:

Hanover Wild 4 Barre Blades 1

The Wild earned a decisive win over host Barre on Friday night scoring 4 goals to their one. Tom Peters netted two, Brandon Gardner one and Ryan Wolter one. Jack Doherty earned an assist. Will Gardner got the win in goal.

Hanover Wild 1 Binghamton Junior Senators 1

A physical game and even game against Binghamton. Matt Steeves scored to earn the tie. Assist went to Jack Doherty. Michael Stinson in net. Defenseman Sam Grose threw his weight around and provided critical goalie protection.

Hanover Wild 4 Amherst, MA 2

Hanover racked up four goals against a weaker Amherst team. Ryan Wolter, Brandon Gardner, Ben Carso-Turner and Tom Peters managed to get past a very skilled goalie. Hanover outshot Amherst 3:1. Earning assists were Shayne Cashin, Matt Steeves, Mark Rogenski, Brandon Gardner and Jack Doherty. Will Gardner earned the win.

Hanover Wild 6 Barre Blades 1

A good team effort spread out the scoring among 5 different players for Hanover. Steeve, Carson-Turner (2), Peters,Whalen, and O'Leary tallied for the Wild. Shayne Cashin played strong defense at the point and provided two helpers. Also assisting on other goals were: Steeves, Worthy Gardner, Brandon Gardner, O'Leary and Wolter. Will Shepard provided the fast back-check and defensive coverage. Mike Stinson played in goal, stopping Barre's shots.

Championship Game: Hanover Wild 3 Binghamton Junior Senators 2

Two closely matched teams came into the final looking for the win. Hanover did not give up. With one goal scored by Peter O'Leary, assisted by Carson-Turner in the second, Hanover struggled to get past the strong Binghamton sticks. A deflected puck in the third resulted in an own goal by the Senators. Leading 2-0, Hanover tried to hold on til the end when a pulled goalie and extra attackers allowed Binghamton to storm back in the final minute of regulation tieing the game at 2-2. Playing 4 on 4 in sudden death Jack Doherty and Tom Peters skated it in. Shots and rebounds happened and Peters managed to put the puck in. Will Gardner faced plentiful shots and made great saves giving Hanover confidence to attack Binghamton.

February 10th - 11th
Hanover Wild 3 Barre Blades 2


Squirt Green hosted the Barre Blades in non-league competition this weekend at the KUA rink. In a well-played tight game, the Wild came away with the win. Tom Peters scored first for the Wild. Barre answered to tie it. Pouncing on a loose rebound, Matt Steeves buried the puck with 1:45 to go in the first giving Hanover the edge. Momentum changed again as the Blades snuck one past Hanover Goalie Mike Stinson. Late in the third, Peters found his way to the net to clinch the win. Linemate Jack Doherty supplied the assist on both of Peters' goals. Goal tending time was split between Stinson and Will Gardner. Peter O'Leary, Matt Whalen and Mark Rogenski had strong games for the Wild. Speedy defenseman Ryan Wolter moved the puck up-ice and Center Brandon Gardner provided the backcheck.

Hanover Wild 4 Andover (MA) 1

Phillips Andover Academy was the site for Squirt Green to take on the Andover, MA Squirt 1 team. Brandon Gardner put the Wild up within the first minute of the game. Three minutes later, Ben Carson-Turner threw one at the net and found an open five hole. Early in the second, Peter O'Leary pushed through a crowd at the net to make it 3-0. Mark Rogenski recorded the assist. Andover made it to the scoresheet late in the second. An unassisted goal by Brandon Gardner finished things off for a final of 4-1.


February 3rd

Manchester Jr. Monarchs 5 Hanover Wild 2


Hanover Squirt Green met the Jr. Monarchs at the tri-town arena this past weekend. Despite playing hard they dropped the game 2-5. Scoring for Hanover came from Peter O'Leary unassisted and Tom Peters. Peters' goal came on a great break-out pass from defensman Ryan Wolter to Jack Doherty who found Peters in the zone. Goalie Mike Stinson saw a lot of shots on goal as the Wild tried to contain the Monarchs.

Hanover Wild 7 Burlington Bobcats 1

Two players scored hat tricks in the romp over the Burlington (VT) Bobcats. Peter O'Leary tallied three goals with assists coming from JacK Doherty, Will Shepard and Brandon Gardner. Gardner had a strong game as well, finding the net three times. His helpers came from Ryan Wolter and O'Leary. Matt Whalen, playing strong around the crease, managed to poke one through to join the scoring. O'Leary assisted on this as well, giving him five points on the game. The only Bobcat goal came during the third period on a power play. Will Gardner played solid in the net with help from blueliners Shayne Cashin and Sam Grose. Excellent passing and hustle were the buzzwords at this contest.


January 27th-28th

NH Avalanche 5 Hanover Wild 0


Hanover Squirt Wild failed to score in Saturday's game against the Avalanche from Hooksett. In a physical contest, the Wild team was outmatched in both size and speed. Mike Stinson saw a lot of shots in goal and despite making some spectacular saves, the Avalanche prevailed.

Hanover Wild 1 Manchester Flames 1

In their second weekend game at Westside Arena, the Wild came out flying in an important Granite State contest. Facing the first place Manchester Flames, Hanover played hard and the first period ended without any scoring. In the second, Jack Doherty took advantage of a sloppy Flames change and knocked one in. Plagued by penalties, the Flames could not get past defensemen Shayne Cashin and Will Shepard until late in the second. Will Gardner was stellar in net, making difficult saves look easy. The line of Mark Rogenski, Ben Carson-Turner and Peter O'Leary provided ample forechecking and blueliners Ryan Wolter and Sam Grose kept the puck in Hanover's offensive zone. Matt Whalen, Brandon and Worthy Gardner played well as a line with some excellent passing. The Wild takes on the Jr. Monarchs at Tri-Town Arena next weekend.

January 13th-14th
Squirt Green Takes the CSB Squirt Winter Classic Tournament!

Hanover Squirt Green traveled to South Burlington to play in the CSB Squirt Winter Classic Tournament on January 13-14. (Hanover played a quick GSL game Saturday morning against Nashua Panthers at Campion, and hit the highway. ) The other teams in the "A" division were: the CSB Hawks, Saratoga (NY) Blue Knights, and the Osgoode (Ottawa) Senators. Hanover won all three of their games to face CSB in the final. They brought home the hardware! Game summaries below:

Hanover Wild 1 CSB Hawks 0

One goal was all Hanover needed to win their first game of the tournament. In a defensive showdown, Worthy Gardner slid the puck past CSB with the assist coming from Ryan Wolter in the first period. Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the close contest, although Hanover held the edge in shots. Will Gardner recorded the shut out in net.

Hanover Wild 7 Saratoga 0

Thanks to goals by Jack Doherty, Peter O'Leary and Ryan Wolter in the first period, the Wild got off to a strong start and never looked back against Saratoga. Wolter and Doherty each notched another one while Matt Steeves and Brandon Gardner also contributed to the scoring effort. Assists came from all around the ice in great team play. The defense kept everything away from the Hanover goal contributing to a shut out for Mike Stinson and Will Gardner.

Hanover Wild 2 Osgoode 1

The Wild headed into the third game of the tournament tired, but determined. Blueliner Shayne Cashin scored to start things off. Assist came from Will Shepard and Tom Peters. Shepard scored later on an unassisted rush to keep the Wild ahead. Osgoode found the net once in the second, but could not penetrate the Wild defense. Sam Grose and Ryan Wolter held the line and gave Hanover forwards the puck to work down low.

Hanover Wild 2 CSB 1

Hanover met CSB in the championship game and the Hawks were looking for revenge as the tournament hosts. Mark Rogenski put the Wild on the board first when he slammed home a pass from Wolter. Also earning an assist was Ben Carson-Turner. Matt Steeves capitalized on a pass from Jack Doherty to put the Wild up by two. CSB answered with a goal in the third, but could not beat the Wild who could smell the win. Goalie Mike Stinson made super saves and Hanover forwards Matt Whalen, Brandon and Worthy Gardner provided the tough forecheck.

January 6th-7th
Squirt Green Win One, Lose One

Hanover 2 Barre 0

In a strong game against the Barre, VT Squirts, Hanover Wild played well enough to earn a shut out for goalie Will Gardner. Ryan Wolter struck first with assists going to fellow defense man Shayne Cashin and wing Matt Steeves. In the second period Jack Doherty added another one with Tom Peters supplying the helper. Defenders Will Shepard and Sam Grose kept the puck out of the zone. Good effort by Peter O'Leary, Ben Carson-Turner and Brandon Gardner secured the victory.

NH Avalanche 4 Hanover Wild 2

Hanover Squirt Green took on the NH Avalanche at the Ice Den in Granite State League play. Two quick goals by the Avalanche had the Wild playing catch up. A goal late in the first by Matt Steeves seemed to change the momentum going into the second, but the Avalanche snuck in a second period goal. The third period featured a goal by the Avs and a scrum in front of the net in which Brandon Gardner managed to poke on through. Michael Stinson made some great saves in net while the rest of the Hanover team executed some great plays and passing. The second and third period were played well, but came too late to claim the win. Hanover heads to a tournament in Burlington, VT hosted by the South Burlington Hawks this coming weekend.

December 23rd - 30th
Hanover Wild 2 Seacoast Spartans 1


The Hanover Squirt team traveled to Dover to take on the mighty Seacoast team at the start of the holiday break. Always a tough game, the Wild boys were up to the challenge and showed they can skate with a select team. A first period goal by Ryan Wolter started things off when he received the puck from center Brandon Gardner. Hard skating and strong back check by the Wild prevented a lot of shots on goalie Mike Stinson, who was solid in the net. Strong defense by Shayne Cashin and the Will Shepard/Sam Grose line moved the puck up so that forwards Matt Steeves, Peter O'Leary and Ben Carson-Turner could execute great passing. In the second, Jack Doherty added another goal. Assist came from Wolter and Cashin. The Seacoast team answered in the third with one goal, not enough to beat the Green team.

Hanover Wild 5 Essex Sting 3

Playing before a large crowd at the Thompson Arena, Hanover tallied 5 times to down the Sting in non- league play. Organizing a food drive for the Haven, the Wild not only filled the donation bins, but the goal as well. Tom Peters struck first on a power play with assists coming from linemate Jack Doherty and defense man Shayne Cashin. In the second Essex came roaring back with two goals before Matt Steeves knocked one home with ten seconds remaining. Brandon Gardner scored twice in the third, once on a pretty breakaway and once with helpers Peters and Steeves. Essex managed one more goal, but Hanover's Peter O'Leary clinched the win with an empty netter.

Hanover Wild 3 Essex Sting 3


An early morning road trip in snowy weather found the Wild at Essex High School where the Sting was looking for a win against the Green Team. A game marked by speedy and efficient back checking, Tom Peters, Ryan Wolter and Brandon Gardner all pitched in on scoring. Worthy Gardner earned two assists and generated scoring opportunities with his hustle to the net. Going into the third period, the game was tied, when the Essex team scored. But the Wild team was not going to roll over. An Essex tripping penalty in the last minute sent the Wild on the power play. Hanover moved the puck so well that they were able to get off a few shots on a skilled power play . With 14 seconds remaining, Brandon Gardner executed a quick one timer on a pass from Worthy Gardner to tie up the score.

Hanover Wild 5 Burlington Bobcats 3


Fresh off a tie in Essex, the Wild headed to Leddy Arena in Burlington to face off against the Burlington Bobcats. In a physical battle, the green team continued with good defense, strong back check and a hustle to every loose puck. On a hot streak, Tom Peters had two goals and an assist. Ryan Wolter had a goal and assist, while Brandon Gardner, and Jack Doherty (goal and assist) each hit the net. Shayne Cashin earned an assist on one of Peter's goals. Will Gardner had to make some tough saves and came through for the Wild, aided by Defenders Will Shepard and Sam Grose. Mark Rogenski, Matt Whalen and Ben Carson-Turner supplied some nifty fore checking.


December 16th - 17th
Concord 6 Hanover 3

Despite a comeback bid, the Hanover Squirt Green was bested by the Concord Capitals in Granite State League play on Saturday. The Capitals put three on the board in the first period, leaving the Wild behind. With just 25 seconds remaining in the first, Tom Peters found the net with the feed coming from Sam Grose. The Wild contained Concord in the second, allowing one goal. Several shots on goal by Brandon Gardner, Peter O'Leary and Matt Steeves failed to yield a point. In the third, Jack Doherty buried the puck twice with assists going to Tom Peters and Matt Steeves. With the Capitals adding another goal late in the third, the Hanover guys ended up in the loss column. Mike Stinson started in net and turned over the job to Will Gardner mid- way through the contest.

Manchester 3 Hanover 0


On Sunday the Green team took on the fiery Manchester Flames. Hanover, playing superb defense, kept it scoreless until one minute left in the first. Will Gardner continued to make great saves against a hard-shooting Flame team. He got help from Blueliners Shayne Cashin and Will Shephard who played with both hustle and muscle. Hanover's offense showed some excellent passing while Worthy Gardner, Ben Carson-Turner and Mark Rogenski provided the pressing forecheck. The Flames managed to score twice in the third and came away with the win. Despite the score, Hanover played an impressive game.



December 9th / 10th
CSB Hawks 3- Hanover Wild 0 (Game 1)
CSB Hawks 2 - Hanover Wild 2 (Game2)


Hanover Squirt Green traveled to Burlington to take on the CSB Hawks of South Burlington, VT in two non-league games. The first game on Saturday proved to be a slow start for the Wild, as they fell by a 3-0 score. Day two was a different story and the team hit the ice with revenge on their mind. In the first period CSB found the net once. Both teams would have to wait til the third, when Ryan Wolter found his way to the goal, assisted by Jack Doherty. With an even score, both teams played hard- but the Hawks scored again halfway through the third. Pressing offense and tough defense by the Wild prevented anymore chances. Ryan Wolter scored unassisted to help the Wild pull off a tie. The Hanover goalies, Michael Stinson and Will Gardner, splitting duty each allowed only one goal on the game.
Coach Scott Peters praised the players for their hustle and intensity.


December 4th

Nashua 3 Hanover 0
Squirt Green traveled to Skate 3 in MA to take on the Nashua, NH Panthers on December 2nd. In a physical contest with relatively lax officiating, the Wild suffered a 3-0 loss. Despite some good scoring chances, the Wild could not put one in the back of the net. Never the less, there was great effort by Tom Peters, Peter O'Leary and Brandon Gardner. Blueliners Will Shepard and Jack Doherty stopped several Nashua chances.

Nashoba, MA 6 Hanover 2
In non-league competition the same day, the Squirt unit took on a skilled Nashoba, MA team. Playing with fire in their bellies, the Wild managed two goals against a wall of a goalie. In the second, Peter O'Leary hit the net with the help of winger Matt Steeves. Early in the third, Ben Carson-Turner managed to find the five-hole in a scrum in front of the net. Unfortunately, Nashoba broke through 6 times and came away with the win.

Essex, VT 3 Hanover 0
Strong skating and fine passing were not enough as Hanover fell to the Essex Sting in non-league play at Campion on Sunday. Worthy Gardner and Ryan Wolter blitzed into the zone, but couldn't crack the goalie. Smart play by Sam Grose and fellow defenseman Shayne Cashin kept the puck in the zone, while good hustle by Matt Whalen and Mark Rogenski provided some chances. The Wild played a superior game, dominating the play. Hanover heads to South Burlington to take on the CSB Hawks next weekend in two games.

Squirt Green Battles Hard In Hometown Tourney
HHA hosted the 13th annual Thanksgiving Tournament this past weekend. The Squirt Green team won two games and lost two. Just about everyone hit the scoresheet either with goals or assists and the two wins were shut outs for the goalie(s). Hanover just missed making into the final, but played exceptional hockey.

Hanover 4 Chebucto Atlantics (Nova Scotia) 5

First period Hanover goals by Ryan Wolter (unassisted), and Jack Doherty assisted by Worthy Gardner. In the second Brandon Gardner scored with the helper going to Peter O'Leary. Fourth goal in the third sunk by Tom Peters with Doherty earning the assist. Hanover was up 4-2 with 10 minutes left and the Atlantics buried three goals. Goal tending split between Will Gardner and Mike Stinson.

Hanover 1 Avalanche (Walpole, MA) 2

The second game of the tournament was a physical one, The lone goal came from Will Shepard on a defenseman rush. Avalanche managed to get two by the Hanover goalie, position shared by Gardner and Stinson.

Hanover 2 CSB (South Burlington, VT) Hawks 0

Hanover battled the Hawks in a very even contest. Bringing great intensity to this game the Wild skated away with a win and earned a shut out for Mike Stinson. Matt Steeves scored in the first , assisted by defenseman Sam Grose and center Brandon Gardner. An unassisted goal by Ryan Wolter in the second clinched the game.

Hanover 10 Mill City Monsters (Lowell) 0

Playing a weak Lowell team, the Wild showed some excellent play and scoring came from all around the ice. In the first, Brandon Gardner, Peter O'Leary, Matt Steeves, Mark Rogenski and Tom Peters lit the lamp. Assists were earned by teammates Will Shepard, Ryan Wolter, Ben Carson-Turner, and Jack Doherty. Doherty then knocked one in during the second period to make it a 6-0 rout. Third Period points came from Ryan Wolter, assist Carson-Turner, then Carson-Turner on his own followed by a Matt Whalen goal. Mark Rogenski assist. Will Gardner earned the shut out and exceptional defensive action came from Shayne Cashin. Hanover just missed making it to the final, a match-up between CSB and Chebucto. The Chebucto team won 3-2 and claimed the Squirt Division in the thirteenth annual Thanksgiving Tournament.

November 20th
Hanover Squirt Green Drops to Concord (5-3) and the Seacoast Spartans (6-2)
Hanover Squirt Green dropped two games in Granite State competition over the weekend. In the first game, the Wild faced off against Concord at the Campion rink. A goal in the first period by Ryan Wolter was assisted by Tom Peters and defenseman Shayne Cashin. The second period saw one goal by Concord which Hanover answered late in the period. Jack Doherty found the net with Worthy Gardner on the assist. Concord came back big in the third period, scoring four times in a seven minute flurry. Hanover managed one more goal thanks to a Wolter/Doherty combination. Not enough to beat Concord. Wings Ben Carson-Turner, Matt Whalen, and Matt Steeves skated hard into the zone. The defense pairing of Will Shepard and Sam Grose played hard on the boards and goalies Will Gardner and Mike Stinson manned the net.

On Sunday, the Wild took on a strong Seacoast team, looking for a win. Seacoast scored twice in the first. Tough defense by Brandon Gardner and Shayne Cashin kept them away from the net. Late in the first, Ryan Wolter scored with Doherty assisting . The second period belonged to the Spartans as they struck three times. Hanover managed one more goal in the third on a rush by defenseman Will Shepard. Sam Grose and Worthy Gardner earned the helpers.

November 11th
Manchester Junior Monarchs 8    Hanover Wild 1
Squirt Green faced a tough Manchester Jr. Monarchs team on November 11 in a 2 point Granite State league Contest.  Unable to penetrate the Monarchs defense,  the Wild came away with just one goal in the third period.  Ryan Wolter set winger Tom Peters up for a pretty one-timer.  Goalies Mike Stinson and Will Gardner endured a multitude of shots in which the Monarchs scored eight times.
