Hanover Hockey Association - Midget Minor Program for 2010-2011
This document provides a description of the Hanover Hockey Association Midget Minor Program for 2010-2011 season.
Overview:
Hanover Hockey will offer a one-team Midget Minor Program for the 2010-2011 season. The team will apply for Granite State League Tier I placement, the same as last year. Midget Minor is an important transition between youth and high school hockey. Players should not expect the equal treatment protocols experienced in youth hockey. Skill, commitment, work-ethic and teamwork will be the basis for decisions and rewards, such as playing time. The team roster will consist of the maximum allowable GSL players (20-players) and a non-GSL rostered player pool for any remaining players. A try-out will determine GSL rostered players. The team will practice as one team (both GSL and non-GSL players). Only GSL rostered players will be eligible for play in GSL games and each game will be limited to fifteen (15) skaters as determined by the Head Coach based on skill and team commitment. The Midget season runs from late August to early November, consisting of about twelve regular season league games and a state tournament. The fee for GSL rostered players is $500 and the fee for the player pool is $250. Additional details about the Hanover Hockey Midget Minor program are provided below.  Hanover Hockey is not offering a Midget Major program this year.
  • TEAM – Hanover Hockey will offer one Midget Minor team participating in the Granite State League at a tier level determined by the GSL. We are requesting the same GSL tier placement as last year – Tier I. The team will consist of a GSL maximum roster of 20-players and a player pool. A try-out will determine placement on the GSL roster or in the player pool. The team will practice as one team.
  • PLAYER ELIGIBILITY - Only 1994 and 1995 birth years are eligible for Midget Minor placement. Younger players must have Hanover Hockey Association approval to ‘play up’ however it is unlikely that ’96 players will make the GSL roster. All players must be USA Hockey registered and Hanover Hockey registered before stepping on the ice.
  • SEASON – The Midget Minor season starts in late August and concludes with the State Tournament in early November. The team will play approximately twelve regular season league games and based on placement in league play, may be eligible for State Tournament participation. The team may also play some non-league games against Vermont teams, but this is not finalized.
  • COACHING - Head Coach Joe Perron will be assisted by Coach Don Hoh. Both coaches are returning from the Midget Minor team last year and both coaches have Level IV coaching credentials required at the Midget level. John Montgomery will be the Team Manager and Scheduler.
  • FEES: $25 for try-out, $500 for GSL players; $250 for the player pool, plus USA Hockey Registration fee.
  • GAME AND PRACTICE SCHEDULE: The team will practice approximately three times a week between late August and early November. Practices will generally be held at Campion Rink on Tuesday morning before school, Thursday evening and Saturday evening.  We will attempt to schedule most games on Sunday afternoon to avoid conflicts with other fall sports. Before each game the Head Coach will publish a game roster of about fifteen skaters. The game rosters will be solely determined by the Head Coach based on player availability, skill, and commitment in practices. Only the players listed on the game roster will suit-up and participate in the game.
  • TRY-OUT – A try-out will be held on Sunday, April 4, 3:30 – 5:00 PM at Campion Rink. There is a non-refundable try-out fee of $ 25 that must be paid at try-out sign-in. The try-out will determine the players selected for the GSL Roster and those players placed on the player pool. Players must participate in the try-out to be selected for the GSL Roster, except for players officially rostered on the team last year. Returning Hanover Hockey Midget Minor players will be granted a position on the team if all other requirements are satisfied (age eligibility, USA Hockey Registered and HHA Registered). Any players not able to participate in the try-out will be assigned to the player pool. Players in the player pool may be invited to join the GSL roster if there are openings, based solely on the determination of the Head Coach. Try-out results will be posted on the HHA Web site by Tuesday, April 6.
  • REGISTRATION AND PAYMENTS – All players must be USA Hockey registered to participate in the try-out and Midget practices / games.   All players accepted onto the GSL roster must complete the Hanover Hockey Association registration process, including a non-refundable $250 down payment by May 1, 2010.  Players failing to complete HHA registration will be dropped from the GSL roster.  Player pool players wishing to be considered for possible inclusion on the GSL roster must also complete the Hanover Hockey Association registration process, including a non-refundable $250 payment by May 1, 2010. The remaining balance for GSL players ($250) and all player pool registrations and payments must be received by August 1, 2010. Players not registered and paid in full by August 1, 2010 may not be eligible for play.
